The City of Bel Aire voted down the use of the Flock system in May 2023, KWCH reported on November 14, 2023. In that report, council member Emily Hamburg said she did not support keeping the Flock cameras, and council member Justin Smith said he could not support a mass surveillance program like this one. KWCH reported on June 12, 2026 that the city was again exploring Flock cameras for its police department after the topic resurfaced at a council meeting. Mayor Jim Benage cited Fourth Amendment concerns, and council member Mike Proctor noted that Wichita has more than 200 Flock cameras. The Bel Aire Police Department declined to comment until the city council takes official action. No document found shows a council vote on the 2026 proposal, and no document found states the 2023 vote tally, a cost, a camera count or a funding source.
