Approved by Will County Board on August 20, 2026.
The Will County Board voted on August 20, 2026 to approve agreements letting Flock license plate cameras stay on county highway right of way for 6 municipalities: Mokena, Crete, Manhattan, Frankfort, Naperville and Wilmington. The board turned down a seventh request tied to Beecher. Amended language written into the agreements lets a city or village withdraw from the county arrangement. Board members Frankie Pretzel of New Lenox, Daniel Butler of Frankfort and Destinee Ortiz of Romeoville took part in the debate, and several members pressed for more oversight and audits. Residents told the board that officers around the country had misused reader data to stalk, intimidate and harass people. CBS Chicago reported the same set of renewals and also published no tally. Frankfort separately paid for 3 cameras on Laraway Road. Neither report gives a vote tally, dollar amount, camera total or term length.
