Rolling Meadows has 10 Flock cameras, installed since 2023 and set mainly on arterial roads to capture vehicles entering and leaving the city. In late August 2026 the city council pressed the police department over how camera data is shared, after reporting on out of state searches of Illinois plate reader records. Alderwoman Jenifer Vinezeano gave the vendor a January 1 deadline to satisfy the council and said she would move to cancel the camera contracts if it is not met. Council members Karen McHale and Stefanie Boucher raised the same privacy concerns. Police Chief Anthony Peluso said the cameras help locate missing people and develop leads in burglaries, that images are kept 30 days, and that the data goes only to Illinois law enforcement agencies. The contracts lapse in stages, 5 cameras in July 2027, 3 in November 2027 and 2 in August 2028. No council vote to approve or cancel had been taken as of these reports, and no roll call, contract amount or original approval date is documented.
