Lincoln County Sheriff Rene King announced on August 25, 2026 that his office will stop using Flock Safety cameras. The cameras had been in place about 18 months, mounted on each side of the railroad crossing in Shoshone. King said deputies had to supply a case number or a call for service number before running a search, and that searches were audited every 28 days using standards similar to the Idaho Law Enforcement Telecommunications System policy. He said the move is not a political decision and is not about taking sides, and pointed to community concerns about data collection, retention and access. King added that the decision does not diminish the system's past success or the work deputies did with it. This is Lincoln County, Idaho; Lincoln County, North Carolina has its own page. Reports do not state the number of cameras, the contract amount, the funding source, the contract end date or how the county originally approved the agreement.
