Who approved this?
No source names who approved this contract yet. Contracts that arrive through procurement or a purchasing threshold often leave no vote to record.
Axios Des Moines reported on July 28, 2023 that Waukee had approved a first year Flock Safety contract of nearly 35,000 dollars and would put in about a dozen cameras over the following months. Police Chief Chad McCluskey said the cameras would help prevent and detect criminal activity. Waukee joined Altoona, Ankeny, Clive, Pleasant Hill and West Des Moines, which were already running the system. On August 15, 2026 KCRG reported that the police department will not renew its relationship with Flock Safety, pointing to national concerns about privacy and data retention. The department said it will pause the program until the 2027 Iowa legislative session and revisit the decision once state law is settled. No exact dollar figure or camera count is given because both reports give rounded approximations rather than contract numbers. No roll call is recorded because neither report names the approving body, the meeting date or the vote.

What happens next
This decision already happened in public; the record and its sources are above. If the community revisits the question, that decision would follow the same public process: a noticed meeting, public comment, and a recorded outcome, all through official channels.
