Georgia Southern University announced on February 6, 2023 that it was spending about 1.2 million dollars to upgrade campus security cameras and that the work included Flock cameras with plate reading and vehicle fingerprint features. Police Chief Laura McCullough said the upgrade let the department add cameras, extend reach and add storage and searching. The university said the project would start within weeks and finish by the start of the fall 2023 semester, and that the network held more than 1,800 video cameras across the Statesboro, Savannah and Hinesville campuses. The Statesboro Herald reported in February 2024 that the Flock units are a small part of that network and that Statesboro police and the university share camera access. Neither document gives a Flock camera count or a separate Flock price.
