Winter Park Police Department pays $7,500 a year to lease 3 Flock cameras on Lee Road, Fairbanks Avenue and Aloma Avenue, Winter Park Voice reported on September 2, 2026. The city has operated the cameras for about 5 years, and Police Chief Tim Volkerson added new rules for their use in August 2026. Volkerson said all 3 cameras would come down within 30 days to comply with a Florida Department of Transportation order removing plate readers from state roads, and that they could later move to city-owned roads. In an article updated on September 24, 2026, ClickOrlando reported that the department asked the City Commission at a Wednesday meeting to suspend the city's plate reader program for no less than 90 days, and the commission approved the request. No document found names the body that approved the lease, the approval date, the contract term or the funding source. None of the documents says whether the lease itself will end.
