The Walton County Board of Commissioners voted 5 to 0 to remove Flock license plate cameras from all county-owned and maintained rights-of-way, WJHG reported on August 25, 2026. Commissioners counted about 106 Flock cameras in the area, with about 60 of them on county rights-of-way, WEAR reported. WEAR also reported that the Walton County Sheriff's Office installed the cameras and is responsible for taking them down. Cameras in municipalities, private communities and on state highways fell outside the vote. Sheriff Mike Adkinson told WEAR he could list hundreds of arrests and cases solved with the cameras. WTVY reported on September 1, 2026 that Walton County had pulled its cameras. No document found names the body that approved the sheriff's Flock contract, the approval date, the amount or the funding source.
