Titusville Police announced a temporary pause of its automated license plate reader network on August 31, 2026, the same day the Florida Department of Transportation revoked approvals for the cameras in state road rights of way. News 6 described the step as a pause rather than a termination, and the department did not say what condition would end it. FOX 35 grouped Titusville with Sanford and Edgewater among the cities that stopped using the readers immediately after the order. The state set a 30 day deadline to clear the devices from state rights of way and warned it would remove them itself if agencies did not comply. No camera count, contract amount, contract end date, or City Council vote for the Titusville program appears in either report.
Use suspended
Camera use is suspended. The contract itself has not been reported terminated.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
What happens next
Renewals are decided in public. Residents can attend the meeting, speak during public comment, and write to the office above through official channels. The ACLU publishes a model cancellation resolution officials can adapt.
