Approved by Jacksonville Beach City Council.
Jacksonville Beach Police Department confirmed that 9 additional Flock cameras were installed in December as part of a public safety technology program that City Council approved, Action News Jax reported on January 15, 2026. A Capital Improvement Plan report cited in that story projects $67,500 for the cost and maintenance of those cameras through 2030. Police said they worked with the city IT department and Flock Safety to choose the camera sites. The Beach Gazette reported that the underlying technology plan was finalized in August 2025 after a City Council strategic planning session. On September 3, 2026, News4Jax reported that the department will remove its plate readers on state roads under the state order and keep using the technology where the law allows. No document found gives the date of the council vote, the total camera count, the contract term or the funding source.
