The Jackson County Sheriff's Office announced in a comment-restricted Facebook post on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 1, 2026, that it was halting use of its Flock cameras, WFSU reported that day. The announcement followed Gov. Ron DeSantis' announcement that Flock cameras along state highways would be removed. The office's statement said its job includes respecting residents' privacy. WTVY reported the same day that the office decided to stop using the cameras altogether, while saying it had several safeguards in place and no track record of misuse. No document found names the approving body, the approval date, the contract amount, the camera count or the funding source. The reports do not say whether the contract itself was ended.
