Edgewater police suspended use of their Flock cameras in the hours after the Florida Department of Transportation revoked every state road plate reader permit on August 31, 2026. FOX 35 listed Edgewater with Sanford and Titusville among the cities that stopped using the technology as the memorandum landed. The order gave agencies 30 days to clear equipment from state rights of way and said the department would remove anything left behind. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood shut down his own countywide network the same day and said all of his cameras sat on state roads, leaving no legal basis to keep running them. Edgewater has published no statement terminating the underlying agreement. No contract amount, camera count, term or city council approval record for the Edgewater agreement appears in any document reviewed.
