Who approved this?
Approved by Coral Springs City Commission.
Coral Springs police bought their Flock license plate readers with a state grant, and the city commission approved that grant by a unanimous vote, Coral Springs News reported. A second Coral Springs News story says the city sought the state money through Florida Sen. Tina Polsky for cameras and license plate readers, and that the commission voted unanimously to receive a $500,000 grant in November; the story gives no year. The readers cover all major roads leading into and out of the city. A resident asked the commission at a June 17 meeting to consider canceling the contract with Flock. On September 24, 2026, a GovTech copy of a South Florida Sun-Sentinel story said the Coral Springs plate cameras were not on state roads and were not affected by the Florida Department of Transportation order. No document found gives the approval date, the Flock contract amount, the camera count or the term.
