Cocoa Beach police removed officer access to the Flock system after the Florida Department of Transportation revoked state road plate reader permits on August 31, 2026. News 6 reported the department framed the step as lasting until state lawmakers change the rules governing the technology. The city cameras sat on Highway A1A and State Road 520, both part of the State Highway System covered by the memorandum, which is why the order reached them directly. The memorandum gave agencies 30 days to clear equipment from state rights of way and said the department could remove any device it judged a safety concern at any time. Cocoa Beach has not published a statement terminating the underlying agreement. No contract amount, camera count, term or city commission approval record for the Cocoa Beach agreement appears in any document reviewed.
Use suspended
Camera use is suspended. The contract itself has not been reported terminated.
