The Westport news site 06880 reported on September 2, 2025 that the town had paid Flock 80,000 dollars and that Police Chief David Farrell said the data is kept 30 days and that policy bars use for immigration enforcement or any purpose outside a legitimate criminal investigation. Farrell said the department does not share the data with federal immigration agencies. WFSB reported on May 28, 2026 that Westport runs 29 Flock cameras at 3,000 to 3,500 dollars each a year, with locations withheld for security reasons. Officers must select a NIBRS based reason for each query, and the department audits use twice a month and has found no improper use to date. WFSB counted at least 11 immigration related searches in November 2025, now prohibited, and named out of state agencies that searched Westport data, including Louisville Metro in Kentucky, the Hillsborough County and Palm Beach County sheriffs in Florida, and Houston police. The 80,000 dollar figure is money already paid rather than a stated contract value, so no contract amount is given. Westport also runs Vigilant readers for parking enforcement, a different vendor. No order form, council or police commission vote, term length or funding line was found.
