Approved 1-0 by Southington Town Council on July 10, 2023.
Patch reported on July 18, 2023 that the Southington Town Council voted unanimously on July 10, 2023 to buy a Flock Safety system of 22 cameras. Year one cost 80,300 dollars including a 14,300 dollar installation fee, with 66,000 dollars a year after that. The town covered the first year from cash earmarked as a dispatch subsidy and planned to budget the annual fee going forward. Town Manager Mark Sciota, Police Chief Jack Daly, Deputy Chief Bill Palmieri and Corporation Counsel Alex Ricciardone took part in the discussion, and the council was told data deletes itself after 30 days when no search is run. WFSB reported on May 28, 2026 that the count had grown to 32 cameras, that searches ran to about 1.5 million between December 2025 and May 2026, that access is limited to Connecticut agencies, that officers must enter a case number and a specific reason rather than the generic option, and that monthly audits go to the Board of Police Commissioners. The 22 and 32 figures come from different years, and 32 is shown as the current count. No roll call by name, no signed contract and no contract end date were found.
