Milford police installed 3 Flock Safety license plate readers, and all 3 were vandalized. The city legislature ordered a temporary pause on additional cameras, and a special meeting was set for August 27, 2026 to take up a moratorium. A public question and answer session on August 19 and 20, 2026 drew heavy opposition from residents. The Police Department Employees Union defended the system, saying many arrests had been made because of the technology and warning that shutting down safety systems puts officers and the community at risk. Governor Ned Lamont asked Connecticut towns to pause installations while a state police agency reviews the technology. Both sources place this Milford in Connecticut, which matters because Milford also exists in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Michigan and Delaware. No contract amount and no approval date are documented.
