Canceled
Who approved this?
Approved by Town Meeting on May 19, 2025.
The town did not renew the contract for its 4 cameras after selectmen raised security and privacy concerns. First Selectman Eric Couture signed the contract for 4 cameras on Route 81 in fall 2025 after the board of selectmen and the board of finance approved it. Couture said the first major story about Flock data practices ran the day after he signed, and the town was not using the cameras enough to justify keeping them. The town owes an exit fee Flock has not yet stated, and it handles records requests itself because the state police covering town do not. The FY2026-FY2035 Multi-Year Capital Improvement Plan carries a line for 4 Flock Safety Falcon cameras at $14,600, and the document records that the plan was approved at the Board of Selectmen's meeting held on April 29, 2025 and at Town Meeting held May 19, 2025. The cameras run under the Resident State Trooper program. Selectmen minutes from March 13, 2025 record a motion by E. Couture, seconded by J. D'Angelo, recommending the capital budget to the Board of Finance after discussion of including the Flock cameras. No signed vendor agreement is posted and no contract term or end date is stated.
