The Cheshire Police Department runs Flock Safety license plate readers and gave WFSB search records covering May 2023 through November 2025. During that window outside agencies ran 1,727 searches tied to immigration enforcement against Cheshire data, and the department was connected to the Flock national sharing network. Inside Investigator reviewed a later slice and found that between April 6, 2026 and May 6, 2026 Cheshire officers queried their own cameras about 1,680 times while external agencies searched Cheshire data just under 19,000 times. Departmental audit logs showed no offense listed in 37 of 516 searches. The department told WFSB the cameras help locate missing people, and stolen vehicle files were the most common search category. Neither outlet reported a camera count, a contract price, a term length, or a vote by a council or police commission approving the program. No retention figure specific to Cheshire was published, though a 2026 state law caps retention at 21 days.
