The Town Council authorized a revised master service agreement with Flock Safety Group Inc. for stationary license plate readers on June 18, 2024, carried as consent item 8. Council Member Maria Ristow moved the consent calendar and Vice Mayor Matthew Hudes seconded. All 5 members voted yes and no one pulled the item for discussion. The Los Gatan reported the revised deal runs 60 months for 17 cameras at 255,000 dollars, or 51,000 dollars a year, with a 40,000 dollar contingency on top, and expires in 2029. Los Gatos started with Flock in 2021, when staff asked for a 2 year lease of 15 cameras at 78,750 dollars drawn from the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund. The 2021 staff report describes a 30 day search window on retained data. On August 15, 2023 the council agreed to share plate data with other Santa Clara County law enforcement agencies without adding retention limits on the receiving agencies.
