Approved 5-0 by Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on April 9, 2024.
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors voted 5 to 0 on April 9, 2024 to approve staff recommendations on the Sheriff's Automated License Plate Reader program, county file 24-325. Two documents filed with the county name the vendor and the term, Flock Agreement 2023.03.24-2027.06.30 and Flock Amendment 2025.07.01-2027.06.30, so the arrangement runs through June 30, 2027. The board took the program up again on June 2, 2026 and voted 4 to 1, with Supervisor Rex Bohn against, to form an ad hoc committee on alternatives and to direct Public Works to return with a policy on Flock cameras placed on county property. Supervisor Steve Madrone moved the same day to pull $21,000 out of the Sheriff's budget, and that motion failed. The Lost Coast Outpost reported on August 11, 2026 that 11 cameras were running, that two had gone up near Willow Creek on July 1, 2026, and that the Sheriff's Office shared the network with 22 other California law enforcement agencies.
