Who approved this?
Approved 3-2 by Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Supervisors approved an 18-month, $2.4 million extension on July 1, 2026, after the sheriff opened the meeting by admitting 140 unauthorized searches of the county Flock data in the past year. Sheriff Yesenia Sanchez said 2 approved agencies had let out-of-state entities search the data, and the office cut those agencies off along with about 60 percent of the departments they shared with. Board President David Haubert said he did not believe the cameras are widely used by ICE; Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas voted no and cited distrust of the company. Secure Justice director Brian Hofer said he is preparing a lawsuit over past unauthorized access. The roll call reads 3-2 on the 5-member board; CBS reported the vote as 4-3. When the prior contract expires at the end of 2026, the county can seek other vendors.
