Youngtown has about 40 Flock Safety cameras in a town of roughly 7,000 people covering about 1.5 square miles, with most of them lining 111th Avenue. KJZZ and ABC15 both describe close to one camera per block, among the densest networks in the Phoenix area. The town website says plate data is deleted automatically every 30 days on a rolling basis. Youngtown has no police department of its own and contracts with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, and the town posts a Flock memorandum of understanding involving Maricopa County, though the copy served online contains only the signature certificate and not the terms. The mayor told KJZZ the experience has been positive and that the readers helped solve auto thefts. Town officials told ABC15 they have no plans to cancel while at least 5 other Valley cities have ended theirs. No contract amount, term, approval date or council vote is published.
