Sedona, AZ Flock Contract

Sedona City Council voted 7-0 on September 9, 2025 to cancel the city's Flock Safety contract and remove the cameras. The city's own action item list for that meeting records the outcome under agenda bill AB 3261 as cancelling the contract with Flock and removing the cameras completely from the city, moved and seconded by Councilmembers Kinsella and Ploog. The published agenda listed item 8.b as discussion and possible direction for a citizen working group on ALPR policies, so the termination came out of that item rather than a noticed termination item. KNAU reports 11 cameras had been installed over the summer and quotes Vice Mayor Holli Ploog saying a company that denied data sharing on August 13 and admitted it on August 19 is not a company the city can do business with. At the August 13, 2025 meeting the council had already directed staff by consensus to switch the system off, provide a timeline of past ALPR discussions and form a citizen work group. No city document states a removal deadline, an original approval date or a contract amount. An earlier version of this page gave a 30-day removal deadline; no document supports it, and it has been removed.
