Queen Creek runs 47 Flock license plate reader cameras under contract and is testing 15 Axon cameras alongside them. On September 2, 2026 the Town Council voted unanimously to tighten the rules and keep the cameras rather than drop the vendor, according to KJZZ. The new ordinance makes unauthorized access to plate data a class 1 misdemeanor, caps retention at 30 days, restricts sharing to verified and authorized recipients, bars sale to third parties, and requires a public audit at least once a year. Police told the council they do not share data with federal partners and do not permit immigration or reproductive health investigations, and said no misuse had been documented in Queen Creek. The Queen Creek Tribune reported in August 2026 that the department planned a 3 part proposal covering policy changes, town code changes and a review of technology and possible contract changes. No source reviewed names how each member voted, so no roll call is given, and the town has not published the contract amount or expiration date.
