The State Press reported on August 27, 2026 that the ASU Police Department runs 20 Flock cameras on the Tempe campus and that they would stay in place after the City of Tempe shut down its own 33 cameras on August 26, 2026. A department spokesperson said the Flock cameras point at roadways only and that any other cameras on campus are standard security cameras. The department said the data is used only as part of investigations and weighed alongside other evidence, and is shared only with municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies for criminal justice purposes. The department runs the system through its Real Time Analysis Center. The report gives no dollar figure, contract dates or retention period.
