Approved by City Council.
Searcy City Council voted unanimously in the week of August 10, 2026 to start ending the city's Flock camera contracts, after residents spoke against the program at an agenda meeting the previous Thursday. The council first put $27,900 from general fund reserves into the program in October 2023, buying six Falcon readers, two Condor pan-zoom cameras and software. The city now has 22 Flock cameras and had planned to expand to 30. Searcy holds three separate Flock contracts ending in March 2027, April 2027 and October 2027. Police Chief Steve Hernandez said the department was not getting its money's worth, cited a lack of communication from Flock, and said only about 10 officers use the system. Council members Don Raney and Dale Brewer spoke in support of the department's position. The city is expected to send Flock a formal letter, and the council does not plan to replace the system. The sources give the vote day as August 11 and August 13, 2026 and the city had not published minutes, so only the week is given.
