The Walker County Commission approved a resolution titled 'Revocation of General Use Contract and/or Privilege for Automated License Plate Readers' at a Tuesday meeting, the Tuscaloosa Thread reported on September 10, 2026. The resolution gives 30 days for the removal of all license plate readers from county rights-of-way and county property. In its own meeting summary, the commission said the resolution bars Flock cameras and similar devices from county highways and properties. WBRC reported on September 11, 2026 that the ban covers unincorporated areas only, so Jasper, Dora, Sumiton and Cordova may keep their own systems. Commissioner Jim Borden told WBRC the commission could revisit the cameras in the future as it gets more information. No document found names who owns or operates the readers on county roads, how many there are, or any earlier county purchase or approval of Flock cameras. No document found gives the vote tally or the names of the commissioners who voted.
